Being a real estate agent is a dream job for many people. If you know what you are doing then you make huge amounts of money. You do need to put a lot of work in though, and of course, you need to have the knowledge to sell properties whilst following a proper process. This isn’t a job that you can just jump into and expect to do well. Other career paths in the property industry can be similarly lucrative and satisfying. Whatever you choose, you will need to educate yourself and thankfully for you there are plenty of places within New Zealand that offer real estate courses. On this page I want to take a little look at a few of the options that you have available to you.
First things first, I am not going to cover all of the locations within the country that offer real estate courses. A quick Google search should point you in the right direction. What I do want to cover though are the types of courses that are available.
The first thing that you are going to need to consider when searching for real estate courses is the way in which you study. Of course, the most traditional option is to go to your local tech or learning centre and get your education just like you would in school. The problem is, the majority of people that are looking into working with real estate are using it as a change of career. For those people it is probably going to take too much time out of their day in which they can earn a proper income whilst studying. You can also opt for home based courses. However you do need to be aware that these will take a lot of effort to complete. Therefore you really need to have the dedication to want to complete the course. You also will need the ability to work without too much assistance.
You have both diploma and certificate level real estate courses on offer. Fuller university degree level property courses are available as well. At the very minimum you are going to want to study for a Certificate at Level 4. Very few people actually do the diplomas when looking to become real estate agents. On the course, you will be learning how to sell property and how to manage and complete the sales process. It is pretty in depth. Depending on your method of study the course can last anywhere from 3 months or so all the way through to a few years for a degree. Once you have completed your level four qualification you can apply to the REAA to add yourself to the Real Estate Agents Register. After awhile as an agent, you can head to level 5 which will allow you to study to be a branch manager.
Of course, there is a lot more information that you will need to consider when it comes to real estate courses. Remember, you will need to pass one of them before you are able to practice as a real estate agent within New Zealand. It is therefore important that you spend the time to think a little bit about what type of course will be right for you and what property career path would suit you best.
